Long-term wise I'm curious if you stick with Volusia or not for Dirt Car Nationals. Granted you can have it as your big one-off show like Super Dirt Week and the World Finals, but still kind of odd. Is there anywhere else nearby that can host it that runs weekly and is close to Daytona?

I would prefer that they keep it at Volusia. The racing at Volusia is superior to the other tracks in Florida in my opinion.

It's true. All I've ever heard from Bubba's at Ocala was that the surface was always a question, and racers were always upset with the way they were treated. Bubba's kid doesn't have much in the way of sprint car talent there, so his dad brings them down and hasn't the slightest clue what properly run shows look like or what driver needs and expectations are so he runs it like a stock car event.
Volusia is superior, better shape, better racing, and the facilities there are suitable. It's hard for weekly racing in FLA to do really well. It's like baseball. They see all these teams and stars for a month or two, then the regular season starts and they've got two sometimes successful, mostly not, teams they have to pay a ticket premium for.
So it is with Florida in February...the whole world is there for a month, then afterwards, fans don't want to watch 9 car features and six classes. They were used to 3 divisions completely full with bmains for a month. They were eating lobster in Feb......they don't like a tuna sandwich in March.. Just my .02

I agree with Skiz on this one. Weekly racing just hasn't done very well in Florida over the years. I would imagine East Bay struggles as well, and while East Bay has produced great racing in the past, I feel like Volusia is a superior track at the moment.

Hey guys good news! Volusia decided to reopen after renewing the lease under a new promoter. I'm glad to hear this as having a track run for one week in a year would kinda be sad with all its history. I'm adding a link to their homepage if you're interested in reading further. They still have a few events left in the year. Cheers, a dirt track has been restored! Volusia Speedway Park
